
Y. King Liu, Ph.D., L.Ac.
Founder and Chairman
Y. King Liu, Ph.D., L.Ac., has more than 40 years of experience in academic research, clinical practice, and biomedical engineering device development. Dr. Liu is the lead inventor of the patent-pending process and device entitled “Bone Cement Composite Containing Particles in a Non-uniform Spatial Distribution.”
During the past 40 years, Dr. Liu served on the faculties of the University of Michigan, Tulane University School of Medicine, and University of Iowa, and is currently the founder, president, and chairman of the board of the University of Northern California (UNC) and the UNC Foundation. He was interim president and CEO of the California College of Podiatric Medicine for 16 months in 2000-2001. Dr. Liu had sabbatical-year visiting professorships at Stanford University; the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden; Oxford University, U.K.; and UC-SF.
He has received many honors ranging from the NIH Research Career Development Award to Advisor-at-Large for the Committee on Hearing, Acoustics, and Biomechanics (CHABA) of the National Research Council of the National Academy of Sciences. Dr. Liu was awarded many research grants and contracts by several Institutes of the NIH, NSF, CDC, the U.S. Army and Air Force, and private foundations.
During his academic career, Dr. Liu has published many book chapters, numerous archival journal papers, research reports, and conference abstracts. Dr. Liu completed his doctoral studies at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI.
